Employer-Sponsored Visas
Employer-Sponsored Visas (also known as sponsor visas) allow skilled workers nominated by their employer to live and work in Australia.
There are five main types of employer-sponsored visa applications that you can apply to bring skilled workers to Australia. Those are
- Subclass 408
- Subclass 407
- Subclass 482
- Subclass 186
- Subclass 494
Eligibility
To be eligible for a Subclass 407 visa, you must:
- Be 18 years old or over.
- Have an approved Temporary Activities Sponsor.
- Be nominated by your sponsor to participate in an occupational training.
- Have adequate health insurance for the duration of your stay.
- Have functional English.
- Be a genuine temporary entrant in Australia.
- Meet health and character requirements.
To be eligible for a Subclass 482 visa, you must be:
- be nominated to work in an occupation on the eligible Subclass 482 skilled occupations.
- Be nominated by an approved Standard Business Sponsor.
- Have at least two years of relevant work experience in your nominated occupation or a related field.
- Have relevant skills, qualifications and employment background to perform the occupation.
- Have complied with your previous visa conditions.
- Have an appropriate skills assessment in your nominated occupation.
- Have adequate health insurance.
- Have functional English.
- Be a genuine applicant for entry and stay as a short-term visa holder.
To be eligible for a Subclass 494 visa, you must be:
- Must be under 45 years old; unless an exemption applies.
- Must be nominated by an Australian regional employer to work in your nominated occupation.
- Have relevant skills, qualifications and employment background to perform the occupation.
- Have at least three years of full-time relevant work experience in your nominated occupation.
- Have an appropriate skills assessment, unless an exemption applies.
- Have competent English.
- Meet health and character requirements.
To be eligible for a Subclass 186 visa, you:
- Must be under 45 years old, unless exempt.
- Must be nominated by an Australian employer to work in your nominated occupation.
- Must have an occupation on Subclass 186 – Skills Occupation List.
- Have at least three years of relevant work experience in your nominated occupation or a related field.
- Have relevant skills, qualifications and employment background to perform the occupation.
- Have a positive skills assessment unless you apply for a Subclass 186 – Temporary Residence Transition Stream.
- Have adequate health insurance.
Work only for your sponsor or associated entity unless you are exempt. - Have competent English.
- Meet health and character requirements.
